Do you smell bad from the dishwasher? The reasons are non-compliance with the operating rules or a malfunction. Often users forget to clean equipment after work, do not carry out the prevention of blockages. As a result, you can get not only an unpleasant smell, but also a damaged dishwasher.
How to get rid of the "aroma" and restore the normal operation of the PMM, you will learn in our publication.
Why the dishwasher smells bad
Do you open the hopper door and smell mold or wastewater? This is not surprising if, after a washing cycle, the chamber door closes tightly. As a result, residual water leads to the formation of mold on rubber pads.
Food residues from poorly cleaned appliances do not dissolve. They are washed off by jets of water from the dishes, falling into the drain filter, hose, nozzles, pump. Spray nozzles are also often clogged.
If the car smells bad, like from a sewer, you need to check the correct connection of the drain. With a direct connection, it is important to maintain a distance from the floor, as well as create a bend. How to connect a dishwasher, you can find in the article. Otherwise, all “flavors” of sewage will fall into the hopper.
Sometimes users complain about the smell of fused plastic or glue. The fault is the failure to comply with the manufacturer's recommendations. You may have loaded plastic containers into the machine that do not withstand the high temperature of the wash.
Have you recently started using a new dishwasher? Does the camera smell like plastic? Do not worry, this happens with new technology. After a wash cycle, the smell will go away.
Does the dishwasher smell like chemistry after a dishwasher? It's a detergent. Replace it with another or reduce the dosage. Normally, the smell from the dishes should not be at all. Therefore, pay attention to this when buying powders and rinses.
Important! If it smells of burnt wiring, immediately stop using the PMM, unplug the plug. Until you find the cause, the machine cannot be started.
How to fix the problem
An automatic washing program is good, but no one canceled manual cleaning. First of all, check the following details:
- Open the camera door.
- Pull out the basket.
- Remove the drain filter at the bottom of the pan.
- Pull the metal mesh behind it.
- Rinse parts under pressure, clean with a soft brush.
- Remove sprayers, wash, clean nozzles with a toothpick.
In the impeller of the pump, too, pieces of food that could be stuck could be stuck:
- Remove the pump flap.
- Wear gloves and clean the impeller.
Then:
- Disconnect the drain hose from the body.
- Clean out debris and also check that the connection is correct.
- Do the same with siphon and sewer.
It is recommended to clean the filter at least twice a month. Best of all - after every wash. Do not forget to wipe the door seal with a dry cloth. After the end of the program, leave the hopper open so that it is ventilated and dried out.
You can use a chemical agent that kills the smell after washing. If the bunker smells like doggy (maybe you washed the dishes after the dog), then specialized tools will help you. The main thing is not to use those that can harm the metal parts of the camera:
- washing powders;
- bleach.
For physical cleaning, do not use:
- metal brushes;
- hard washcloths.
You can use the tools at hand:
- If the problem is in its infancy, baking soda will help. Sprinkle a soda tray, run a long washing program at high temperature, without dishes.
- Table vinegar perfectly absorbs odors. The problem is that after processing, the vinegar itself leaves a pungent odor that disappears for a long time. Ready to try it? Then pour a little vinegar into a small bowl and place it on the bottom of the hopper. Run the cycle at high temperature.
Of course, you can use special flavors. But if the cause is not eliminated, they will help for a short time.
Problem prevention
You already know how to remove an unpleasant odor. But how to prevent its occurrence? To prevent it, adhere to the manufacturer's recommendation:
- Clean appliances well before placing them in the basket.
- After washing, leave the door open. Wipe the gaskets with a dry cloth.
- Twice a year carry out a full cleaning of the machine from scale and dirt.
- Clean the filter regularly in the dishwasher.
- Do not keep dirty dishes in a closed chamber for a long time. At least turn on rinse mode.
