All those involved in the breeding of birds in the household, more than once faced with such a process as the processing of carcasses. In this case, the carcass is poured with boiling water and cleaned of the pen by hand. This is acceptable for a small amount.
But if you are engaged in the sale of a large volume of products, then manual labor is a long, tedious and ineffective one. It is not necessary to buy special equipment, you can make a hand-held machine from a washing machine with your own hands.
How does a makeshift pen-removal machine work
Before getting acquainted with the types of machines for plucking, consider the principle of operation of the technique. The machine consists of a container, on the sides of which are rubber beats. They have a ribbed surface that allows you to grab and pull out the feathers, while the bottom of the container rotates. As you can see, a scraper is a simple device.
How to use the peroschipal technique:
- A scalded bird carcass descends into the car.
- The equipment is connected to the network. The bottom rotates - the carcass starts to jump and beats against the “rubber fingers”. The feathers fly off.
At the exit you will get a bird almost completely plucked, only small feathers on the legs will remain.
To pluck which bird a feather-pliers are used:
- geese;
- quails;
- broilers;
- ducks;
- turkeys;
- chickens.
Types of Bird Chipper
According to the used construction mechanism, they are divided:
- Centrifuge. The tank is mainly round in shape, has a vertical hole where the bird is loaded. Bills on the bottom and sides of the container help pluck feathers when the bottom rotates. During operation, water is supplied to the tank for greater plucking productivity. Suitable for a small bird: quail, chicken, ducks.
- Drum type. "Tentacles" are on the surface of the drum, which is rotated by the engine. It is necessary to bring the carcass to the drum and press. So you can pluck a large bird, but for small it is not very convenient.
- Power tool with nozzle. Making such a plucking machine will be very cheap. A nozzle with "tentacles" is put on the tool and is offered in the carcass. Using it is not very convenient - your hands will get tired. Therefore, to process a large number of birds, use the previous options.
In one hour of work with a bird chipper you can process up to 30 carcasses.
We propose to make a homemade pen nibbler from a washing machine.
Instruction: how to make a pick-up machine from an automatic machine and a semiautomatic device
Before you make a chipper yourself, prepare a drawing. It will help you take into account and calculate all the structural elements, as well as correctly assemble the mechanism.
For manufacturing, you can take a washing machine or semiautomatic device. The main thing is that the washer is working and with a vertical load. It can be “Baby”, “Fairy” or “Eye”.
You will need to purchase rubber bills. These are inexpensive parts, and you can buy them on the market or order in the online store. It should be borne in mind that the size of the beat depends on the size of the carcass: the largest go for geese and turkeys, the smallest - for quail.
If you are worried that the carcass may be damaged during plucking, then this is not so. Rubber tentacles ensure maximum safety of the bird.
What tools do you need:
- set of wrenches;
- socket wrenches 8-30 mm;
- small adjustable spanner;
- drill with step drill;
- Bulgarian;
- pliers;
- a hammer;
- tester or multimeter;
- marker.
Now prepare the washing machine. It needs a minimal alteration, so no special costs are expected.
Converting a washing machine into a removable
All you need to do is get the motor out of the case. Since the holes for the beats will be made in the bottom of the case, the flowing water during operation will fall on the engine. This must not be allowed.
Disconnect the bottom and remove the electric motor. Then do this:
- Remove the activator with the drive mechanism.
- Remove all electrical parts.
- After preparing the washer, take a shower head and put on a rubber hose.
You don’t need a shower and a hose now, but you should prepare them in advance.
Do-it-yourself assembly
Now you need to collect all the elements in a single device. Do this:
- Weld the motor support from the steel corner.
- Connect the electric motor to the mains. How to do it right, we talked about in previous articles.
- From a metal corner, build a frame for the finished device. The housing should be at a certain height from the ground.
- For the design to work, install the pulleys. You can take them from the same washing machine.
- Place a small pulley on the motor shaft, and a large pulley on the activator shaft.
- Connect the pulleys with a belt. This will allow the motor to transfer speed to the activator, which will rotate the bottom of the device.
- Now make sure that the casing and the motor are securely installed, as they can fly off during strong vibration.
It remains to install rubber bills. Proceed sequentially:
- Make holes in the tank using a drill with a step drill. Depending on the size of the beat, the size of the holes should be less than three or four millimeters.
- To allow waste water and feathers to escape, make larger holes between the main holes. Then place a pan or a wide container for collecting drains under the tank.
- To facilitate the installation of the beat, the holes are lubricated. You can use machine oil. After lubrication, thread rubber beats into prepared holes.
To protect the motor from water, make a plastic casing for it from a can or box.
The assembly of the scraper is completed. In order for water to flow during operation, install the previously prepared hose and shower head on the edge of the container.
Test work
Time to check your homemade device.
Why is it recommended to use watering when plucking? Because within 2 minutes of the beating of a bird about bills, all feathers fly off with a stream of water. While in the dry version, large feathers remain on the bird and more time is spent.
Since a lot of water leaks out and feathers fly during operation, carry out the procedure in a specially designated place.
